A West Texas Wedding Weekend

This past weekend we headed west to Rocky's hometown for his cousin Jay's wedding. We got in late late on Friday night but that didn't stop Brinley from being up and ready at 7:00 am for some major playtime! She loved her toy basket that Nan filled with some great new toys.

She also loved her new chair. She was obsessed with getting in, turning around, and getting out...over and over. Grandy was there to catch her if she fell or sit her down if she decided to try standing!

Nan pulled out her old baby doll from when she was a little girl. We found out that Rocky's Aunt Gail made her little clothes to match Nan's outfits. Too bad Brinley doesn't have a seamstress like that around to dress her baby!

Once everyone was up, we went for a walk around town (literally) then spent the rest of the morning playing in their amazing backyard. Grandy brought the pool home from the lake house so Brinley enjoyed splishing and splashing-
And playing with her toy boat- everyone has to have a toy ski boat, right?

After a yummy lunch and a good long nap, we got all cleaned up and pretty for the wedding. This is another one of my dresses that I wore as a baby!

Then we took turns getting our picture taken with the little lady!

Bright sun was in our eyes but I loved this little tree stump as a seat!
Rocky had to get his pic with Brinley at the church because he took too long fixing his hair at the house!
It was a full house at the church so we made our way up to the balcony. It was the perfect spot for Brin to walk around and play with her toys during the ceremony.
"Arrrgh matey!"

The wedding was simple and pretty- and the quickest ceremony I have ever sat through. We were in and outta there in 45 minutes total!
The reception took place at Rocky's cousin's new barn. I didn't really know what to expect there but it was awesome! The decorations made it the perfect reception venue. We stopped for a little photo opp on some hay bales-

And we posed under the pretty archway for a family pic.

Brinley just took to that barn like it was her own, using her newfound walking skills to explore every nook and cranny and meet all the wedding guests!

You could find Nan at her heels most of the time.

But cousin Kayla stepped in for a while to give us both a break. We thought she would tire out around her normal bedtime of 7:30, but it was really us that she was tiring out! She was good to go the entire time.

Brinley met this little fella and stared at him for a while, then pushed him down. What was that all about?? I hope this isn't a habit we are forming...
She also loved watching the big girls "play wedding".

The sticks, grass, and dirt were really fun too!

I love this pic!

The evening ended with sparklers
and a fireworks show. Congrats Jay and Courtney!

We spent Sunday morning playing around the house before church. Brinley tried to play "demolish the kitchen by pulling everything out of every drawer" like she does at home, but Nan put the nix on that right away.

And we had one little unhappy camper!

But then she gave her a spoon so she could feed her baby a nice lunch of alphabet magnets. Such a good little mommy!
There is no nursery at Amherst United Methodist Church, so Brinley attended the service with us. I packed the diaper bag with toys, books, cheerios, and water hoping that would get us through without too much distraction. She got tired of all the toys pretty quickly but found my sunglasses to be quite entertaining. I remembered that I had her own pair of glasses deep down in a pocket of the diaper bag, so I pulled them out for her and they were a huge hit! She wore them throughout the entire sermon. It was hilarious! Nan and I got tickled and couldn't stop laughing at her wearing those and being so serious about eating her cheerios. So, my goal to not be a distraction didn't work out so well- she had everyone smiling and laughing!

After lunch we headed home. We stopped in Abilene because it's halfway. Papa, BB, Granny, Blake and Benson were glad to see Brinley... I mean, us.

Brinley loved playing in Granny's walker. It was like her own personal jungle gym!

She also loved her grocery cart. Watch out people, these two ladies and their wheels spell danger! :0) ha ha!
It was a wonderful West Texas Wedding Weekend spending time with the people that we love!

Oh you guys match in your pretty blue and white wedding outfits! How lovely! Gosh, that dress of hers is the prettiest little thing, she looks like a doll! And the way you do her hair now is so cute! It was amusing to hear about what she does that reminds me of Bekah, the serious sunglass wearing and the chair sitting and getting up and sitting and getting up . . ! Those shots you got of her at the wedding are just gorgeous!
