Well that didn't take long!

So yesterday I wrote about how Brinley doesn't put food in her mouth yet. After I wrote that I went to our doctor's appointment, and Dr. Pam said she had never seen a child, in all her years of practicing medicine, that didn't put things in her mouth. She wasn't concerned, just totally surprised. She seemed to think Brinley would start feeding herself when she was ready, no big deal. Well, I am not one to be ok with not hitting those developmental milestones, so last night we dusted off the old tray and gave finger foods a try! At first she just did what she had been doing with the puffs- picking them up and playing with them.
Then Rocky and I started taking her hand and putting it in her mouth. And all of the sudden, she got it!
Her first real meal consisted of pulled pork, sweet potato, and green peas. She liked them all but seemed to have some trouble actually getting them in her mouth. The peas seemed like a good idea to me but they were actually too small. So, Daddy Rocky came up with a great idea of putting all 3 things together in a little ball so Brinley could pick them up easier. Worked like a charm- way to go Daddy!
And for those who are interested, here's 2 videos of the whole ordeal. But be forewarned, the first one is really long and there are lots of high pitched praise and annoying cheers from 2 proud parents!
Before the epiphany...
After the epiphany...yay Brinley!

Yay Brinley! That's exactly how it was for Carter. We went to the doctor one day and the next day he began feeding himself. So exciting!!

Yay Brinley! You did it! We loved watching your videos and you figuring it out! I love how it was a team effort, mommy made her yummy food as always and daddy devised a trick to get that food in your mouth! Daddies are the best at solving problems us mommies are stuck on!
