A Marathon Austin Weekend

Brinley and I loaded up the car for a "marathon" trip to Austin. I say marathon because we were gone exactly 26 hours and the reason we went was to watch my big bro David run 26 miles in the Austin marathon! We took a break from our marathon trip and spent Saturday night in Temple at Daddy Roy and Nonna's. They weren't there but I was so thankful to have a place to stay! We woke up bright and early on Sunday morning to drive to Austin where we met my little bro John and his sweet girlfriend Kalynn.

We got all situated and rushed over to catch David at mile 20 right by his apartment. John ran with him a bit, gave him some advil, and traded out his hat.
We all cheered him on. It was so exciting- David made it look so easy!
Woo Hoo- Go Uncle David!!
Brinley loves her Uncle John!

From there we rushed over to the finish line at the State Capitol. John strapped on the Baby Bjorn so we could go faster- what a great Uncle! Brinley has gotten so much heavier since the last time I put her in that thing!

The next thing we knew, here came David!
He ended up finishing in 3 hours and 33 minutes. We were so proud of him!
His face in this pic tells you how he felt from about mile 20 on. He could barely walk when he was finished but I know he felt really proud of his accomplishment.
All 3 Siblings- so proud of our big brother! We are planning to do a sibling triathalon in June!

By the end of it all, Brinley was exhausted! We had woken up extra early and missed both of her morning naps. I was so proud of her though- she was her smiley old self the whole time! It did incorporate 2 of her favorite things- being outside and being around lots of people.

We ended our time inAustin with a yummy brunch at a neat "Austiny" restaurant called Olivia's. John and Kalynn did a great job of entertaining Brinley while we waited for our table.
After brunch, we headed home. We took another rest stop in Temple and this time we actually got to see Daddy Roy and Nonna. Brinley showed off her crawling skills and they cheered for her like she had just completed a marathon! :0)
