Legos, Peanuts, and a Family Fun Weekend

This past weekend we travelled to Rocky's homeland for a family reunion.  Too bad I didn't take any pics at the family reunion!  We had lots of other fun times with Nan, Dee, and the family.  Nan is always the best playmate for Brinley and willing to do just about anything to keep her entertained.  I looked out and saw her taking Brinley round and round the backyard in the wagon.  Good thing lunch was calling or she would have worn the grass down from Brinley's relentless "Again!" requests. :0)  The big purple ball also provided lots of fun for the little miss.   

 Nan left her normal basket of toys at the lake, but one thing that was still at the house were Rocky's old legos.  We had been playing them up to Brinley and getting her excited about them all the way up there and they did not disappoint!  She was mostly interested in the lego men and horses, but regardless, she had lots of fun with them (and so did Rocky!!)

Back Story about Legos:  We bought a small lego helicopter and power boat for Rocky's stocking this Christmas.  He had them assembled on a shelf in our room at our old house.  Brinley has always been fascinated by them but Rocky has always told her that she couldn't touch them because of the tiny pieces.  During the move, the legos were discarded but somehow a little blue hat was left behind and got shuffled in with nails and other small items I was saving for the new house.  She has been obsessed with this little hat, and Rocky told her that she could take it with her and put them on his old lego men when we visit Nan and Dee.  And by golly, she held him to his word!  It travelled to Amherst in my jewelry box and right when we got out the legos, we had to get the hat and put it on a little man!

 On Saturday morning we went to Haldon and Kim's farm to learn about peanuts. 

Back story on peanuts:  When we were at the lake a few weeks ago with Haldon and the rest of the family, Brinley made peanut butter and banana sandwiches for everyone on the crappie house.  She loves peanut butter and everyone could tell since she ate that for most meals while there.  We told her that Haldon was a peanut farmer and that he grew peanuts in Sudan.  We told her that we would go see where peanut butter came from when we went to visit for the family reunion and she was so excited. 

Kim pulled a few bushes and Brinley picked to her heart's delight.  They were still green but she didn't care one bit.  She was determined to make peanut butter! 

 Haldon was out working but when he found out that Brinley was there, he came right to the field where we were.  They also grow cotton and there were a few stray bushes growing next to the peanut fields so Haldon gave her a little lesson about it. 

She pulled some bolls, picked out the seeds, and loved feeling the soft cotton. 

And any good trip to the farm would not be complete without a ride in the back of the pickup!  This little city gal loved every minute of it!

 After our little farming lesson, Brinley found the swingset and loved having everyone push her and requesting to go "higher, higher!"

 Haldon and Kim also still have their trampoline set up and Brinley loved jumping.  The doggies even got up there and joined her for a bounce but she wasn't as big of a fan of that. 

Saturday evening was our family reunion.  It is Rocky's extended family that we really don't know at all, but we had fun nonetheless.  I even discovered some people that I didn't know where family!  Like I said earlier, I didn't take any pics of the actual event but it was a great night of family fun.  What a fantastic way to spend the weekend!
