We headed west for Thanksgiving this year. Our final destination was Sudan/Amherst to celebrate with Nan, Grandy, and family, but Brinley and I left early and stayed in Abilene for a couple of days. We passed through Baird where Ree and Nonna were staying. They had been wanting to take Brinley out to see the cattle for a long time, and it was the perfect opportunity. We loaded up the farm truck and headed to the first piece of land.
Ree hopped out and got the feed ready. Brinley was very excited to watch and wanted to get back there with him!
Once we gave the ferocious cows their food, Ree and Nonna took Brinley out to survey the situation. She wasn't scared at all, I was surprised!
She picked up some "treats" and tried to feed a few. Nonna swooped in at just the right time to prevent Brinley from losing a finger. Those cows were hungry!!
After the cows were fed, we went to feed the catfish in the pond. We didn't see many because it was too cold, but you better believe Brinley threw every last piece of feed into that tank.
After the cows were fed, we headed on to Abilene. I didn't take many pictures here because I was in relaxation mode. Oops! Dad took the day off and made us some of his famous oatmeal.
We went to the fabulous Abilene mall and had chick-fil-a for lunch and played.
Bebe got out a little tea set for Brinley and she loved it!
On Friday, Brinley and I drove to Lubbock to meet up with Grandy so we could leave a car at the airport for Rocky. He flew in late that night. On Thanksgiving, we had 2 celebrations- the first at Aunt Gail's house with all the Messamore/Harmon clan.
Brinley loved being on the farm and seeing the kitties,
and playing in the rocks and dirt with a tractor. She is a farm girl at heart!
Gail saved the wishbone for us, so I taught Brinley how to break it.
She won! I wonder what her wish was?!
Brinley enjoyed Gail's toys,
and a delicious thanksgiving lunch. Then she headed to the back room for a nap. She was tuckered out and slept for the rest of our time there!
We enjoyed our kid free time by scrapbooking and playing the annual tradition of Around the World ping pong!
After Gails, we went to Idalou to spend the evening with Randy's family. Brinley loved playing in their fabulous toy room.
We all had lots of fun but we had to roll ourselves out the door because 2 thanksgiving meals in one day definitely will put you in a food coma!!
We had to leave Friday morning because Rocky was on call that afternoon. On the way out of town, we stopped off at Dee's work to say hello.
He showed Brinley all the huge tractors,
And let her play with the "little girls tractor" as she would say.
We hit the road and Brinley slept most of the way. It was a great thanksgiving!
