Our patriotic and Rocky celebrating actually started on Wednesday night when we met up with Ree and Nonna for a birthday dinner at Wholly Cow burgers!
After our burger dinner in honor of Rocky, we loaded up to head to the Texas Cowboy Reunion in Stamford. These two kiddos were excited to wear their western gear! Mighty cute little cowpokes if I do say so myself!
Brinley was so proud of her new cowboy boots. They were a compromise from the pink sparkly light up ones that she really wanted but the pink was enough to make her very happy. Now she's ready for the ranch!
It also helped that Mommy had matching boots, thanks to Mimi! Oh how I love this little girly!
It was so fun to be back at the TCR after many years of missing. I have some great memories of coming to it every year while growing up in Stamford.
Dad is always on board to dust off his boots and join us for the rodeo. Blake was there too but somehow dodged all pictures. Brinley was so excited to see the horses, the rodeo princesses and the clowns. She had a blast and surprisingly paid attention for a lot of it. She didn't like it when the cowboys got thrown off the horses but other than that she was very interested.
Ree and Nonna spend a lot of time around cows on their ranch but they enjoyed a break from having to deal with them to just sit back and watch!
Cason also had a great time in all the action and people. He is such a social little guy that even the start time of 8:30, an hour and a half after his normal bedtime, didn't bother him one bit. He was a champ the entire night!
It helped to have 3 grandparents and two parents to pass around and love on him all night too!
The next day was July 4th so I got the kids all dressed in their patriotic gear. Lots of sibling outfit coordinating went on and I loved every minute of it!
This pic is blurry because my camera was not cooperating, or I was cooperating with it, but it shows both kids shirts better.
We started our day with an early lunch at Papa and Bebe's with Granny while Rocky played golf.
I know Granny loves to see her sweet great grandbabies!
And they love her too! Then it was home for naps to rest up for the big 4th of July party at our next door neighbors house that afternoon. We swam, ate, and met lots of new people. Not many pictures except this fun one at the end of the night!
We popped a few fireworks of our own but then we sat out in our front yard and watched all the shows going on around us. It was non stop and so awesome! Here is Brinley with our neighbor Mrs. Megan and her friends Blake and Sutton. We love our neighborhood and our sweet neighbors!
This pic is blurry but it shows Rocky and Brinley burning the midnight oil out on the lawn after everyone else had gone in. I seriously think they would have stayed out there all night if I would have let them!
The next day was Rocky's birthday. Poor guy always gets clumped in with the patriotic celebrating but he doesn't seem to mind too much. We started the day with our family favorite- breakfast in bed! Waffles were the breakfast of choice for this birthday boy and Brinley was quite pleased.
We got ready and headed to the lake, one of Rocky's favorite places! Nan, Dee, Bob, and Gail were all there that weekend too. After Rocky's birthday lunch and presents we hit the water!
Cason had his first experience with boat riding and it was ok. He was happy as long as the boat was moving, but wasn't a fan of sitting still.
We spent the rest of the weekend on lake time- swimming, napping, playing outside, taking walks, and just having plain old fun.
We took Brinley and Cason on our early morning ski run and Brinley was excited to wear her pajamas in the boat.
Cason was a little happier with the experience this time around too. I think it helped that the water was much calmer at 8 am because there aren't many boats. The lake is a busy place on July 4th weekend!
Cason even got to drive the boat with Dee. I can already tell that Dee is gonna be one of his favorite people with all his fun tractors, cars, and boats. A little boys dream!
We had a full weekend but a great weekend! We are so blessed to have so many fun opportunities with wonderful family and friends.
